Her suitors include Jon Heder, Danny DeVito, and Josh Duhamel, who plays Nick, a wiseacre hunk with a brain behind that self-effacing nature. When Beth suddenly has five men in love with her--one for each coin--she wonders if Nick's feelings are real, or just the fountain's crazy magic. Duhamel and Bell have an appealing, old-fashioned bantery chemistry, and if the audience knows well before Nick and Beth that they are perfect for each other, well, the journey is pleasant and the leads are engaging. DeVito is hilarious, and other great cameos belong to Anjelica Huston and Peggy Lipton. Fans of films like My Big Fat Greek Wedding, as well as fans of Bell and Duhamel, will have fun When in Rome. --A.T. Hurley

All those expecting to see a sweet romantic movie based in beautiful Italy (Rome in this case) will be highly dissapointed and I suggest you pick up the DVD of 'Only you' or the recent 'Letters to Juliet' instead. The stock shots of Rome and a few scenes in Rome last for maximum of 15 minutes. The rest of this ridiculous story takes place in New York. So we have Magic coins making people fall in love with total strangers, thunder, lightening, irritating supporting cast and a song and dance finale probably inspired by 'Slumdog Millionaire'.The acting, story and direction are below average.
So why the one star..well that's for some truly beautiful shots of New York.

This was much better that I expected. Sure the story line is kind of predictable, but there are so many funny and cute ways that it's presented. Josh Duhamel is quite good in this which I didn't expect. And, Kristin Bell isn't overly loud and full of herself. The movie has kind of an old fashioned feel to it - not overly sexy, not overly comedic. I can't quite call it a chick flick because I found my husband laughing at many of the scenes and I didn't have to worry too much about my teen watching it - no one jumping in bed or f'ing every other word.

There's nothing sensationally original about movie, but it still leaves a fresh impression with its wacky humor and fun romance. A romantic comedy that can be watched by the whole family. Nothing to complain about!

The movie was predictable, but in a good way. I was able to sit and enjoy the process. It was good.
My husband even let out a chuckle every now and again. I would recommend this as a great Girl's Night movie.
