Product Description A blind woman is the unwitting recipient of a cache of heroin, and is pursued by a man who wants it back.
Amazon.com Audrey Hepburn's last Oscar nomination was for this adaptation of Frederick Knott's famed stage thriller about a blind woman, a con man (Alan Arkin), and a doll full of heroin. Thanks to Hepburn's husband, a photographer who does a good deal of traveling, she's unknowingly come into possession of said doll, which was given to him on a plane by a comely young drug runner who winds up dead. The murderous Arkin, aided by sympathetic henchman Richard Crenna, will let nothing stand in the way of his obtaining it, even if it comes down to assaying multiple "personalities" in order to visit and terrorize Hepburn; Crenna is unwillingly enlisted to help. However, the "world's champion blind lady" (as Hepburn sardonically states) is more than up to the task of defending herself in her basement Manhattan apartment in a heart-stopping climax that to this day still defines the way horror movies with jack-in-the-box psychos are made. Despite the obvious staginess of it all (the entire action takes place in Hepburn's apartment), it still works magnificently, thanks to Hepburn's steely will and Arkin's deadly, sadistic madman. A helpful hint: turn out all the lights when you watch it; theaters back in 1967 did so, killing the guiding lights during the film's last 15 minutes. We can't tell you why, but trust us, it's worth it. --Mark Englehart

Good Movie to Watch at Night August 28, 2010 Thomas Elder Possibly Audrey Hepburn's greatest acting performance. Audrey does an excellent job portraying a young blind woman who is terrorized by people trying to find something they believe she is hiding. This is not a standard thriller. There is very little language and violence. This is a movie you can watch with older kids which will provide a good scare. Not a movie I would recommend if you are trying to find standard Audrey, but Audrey fans will enjoy as will fans of thrillers.
Watr Until Dark August 3, 2010 walter sweeney 0 out of 2 found this review helpful
I received this VHS tape on June 30th. I thought that I ordered a DVD of Wait Until Dark but I returned the VHS still shrink wrapped on the same day as I received it. I have not received any correspondence from Cinema Cornucopia and as of August 3rd I have not received a DVD nor a return of my fee and no credit is listed on my credit card.
Creepy June 30, 2010 D. Bennett Instead of the gore in today's scary movies, this one is just plain creepy. It gives me goosebumps every time I watch it, and the first time I saw the film I jumped and my mother screamed. Very good and clean.
Hepburn should have won the OSCAR for this one May 19, 2010 Rene E. Paquette Playing the blind Suzie Hendricks wide eyed, and no sun/dark glasses, her performance was flawless. She should have won the academy award for BEST ACTRESS for her performance. Hollywood cheater Miss Hepburn on this one.
So Suspenseful it Made Me SCREAM! May 1, 2010 annonymous But not in a bad way. It's actually a compliment to the people who wrote the movie. Good job! This thriller puts you in the story of Susy Hendrix, a women who is blinded in a recent car crash and now lives with the pressure of her husband to become the "world's champion blind lady". Susy is constantly terrorized by her neighbor, Gloria, who is battling insecurities of her own. But, the two realize, that in the end they will both need each others help to fight off the trouble they soon find themselves in.
I highly reccommend this movie. The plot is interesting, and certain aspects of the film definitely make it more exciting to watch.
